"Aloha! ‘O KARMAtheHarmony ko‘u inoa.”

For our eleventh edition of Spotlight on IRIAM: Meet The Streamer, we’re joine by KARMAtheHarmony! Most people know her as a local pigeon from da island where da rainbow shines. But, actually, she’s a lab-created shapeshifting chimera who was created along with her sisters (RinZos and ItsNi, who are also IRIAM streamers) with the intention to bring chaos to the world!
However, now that they are free, KARMA has found an island she loves to hang around on and watch over the kanaka like a pigeon during the day and stream at night. She enjoys singing and listening to music. She also loves chatting, dancing, and watching anime. Oh! And, of course, boba milk tea always makes her day!
What inspired you to become a VTuber?
It is kind of funny to say, but I originally did not have any intention to become a VTuber. Something I wanted to be was an utaite. I discovered Vocaloid and Utaite in my teens and immediately fell in love with them. I love how Vocaloid producers create a song that explores the various human egos, and then artists can cover it, putting their own interpretations and emotions into it. I wanted to be a utaite, so I started posting my covers. But, of course, reality hits, and there is no progress on my view counts. So, since I wanted more people to listen to my singing, but I don't want to show my face like utaites back in the days, I started singing on an avatar-based live-streaming app. Then, I gained confidence as a streamer over the years, and last year, I became a VTuber as the founding streamer of this amazing app, IRIAM.
“I felt like if there was one person who wanted me to stream and listen to me chat or sing, I would gladly grant their wish.”
Was there a specific moment or turning point that made you decide to pursue content creation more seriously?
A turning point that led me to pursue content creation more seriously was when I started seeing the same users return to my streams. Unlike many new streamers, the first live stream I ever did was like an experiment. I was nervous from the anxiety of singing in front of people that I did not even say hi to the viewers. I could only introduce five songs and sing, then end the stream after I gave the general thanks. However, as my confidence built and I was able to stream daily, I started streaming a little longer and greeting people who came in. Then, I realized the same users who come back every day to greet me on my streams. I feel like that was a turning point that made me decide to pursue content creation more seriously. I felt like if there was one person who wanted me to stream and listen to me chat or sing, I would gladly grant their wish. It makes me happy to know that someone enjoys what I am passionate about, and they say that I can brighten their day or night a little. It is a win-win situation!

What led you to join IRIAM, and were there any features or aspects of the IRIAM app that you didn’t anticipate but ended up really appreciating?
A little embarrassing to say, but I've wanted to own my own vtuber model for a while, but I didn't have enough money to make one. While I was thinking about how to take the next step toward becoming an indie vtuber, I saw IRIAM, but it was only available in Japan. So, I wished for IRIAM to come to the US someday so I could start once I get my very own model. However, sometime in November of 2024, I saw an IRIAM US founding streamer’s #JumpOnIRIAM post and learned that my wish had been granted. The only issue was that I was not financially able to get my own model yet. Then I read about the IRIAM Founding Streamer Program, which provides a pre-built model if I get accepted. With the encouragement from my friends, I auditioned, and to my surprise, I got accepted.
There are many aspects of the IRIAM app that I appreciate. I appreciate the various events that excite many IRIAM streamers, including me. However, I did not expect that IRIAM would bring in many wonderful opportunities that I did not even imagine a year ago. For example, I did not think I would be part of an IRIAM booth’s Meet-and-Greet at a convention. I also did not expect that I would be able to perform a song on the large screen with other VTubers at a convention panel. I did think to see myself be a part of the promotion ad of the IRIAM on other social media. However, IRIAM made all of these statements come true. I did not ask for or beg for it; I just saw these opportunities come along and took them. I believe this is the reason why I greatly appreciate the IRIAM team’s work and would like to support them to the best of my abilities in return.
“I believe that if I approach and welcome viewers with the Aloha spirit, the stream will naturally be filled with Aloha and positive vibes”
How do you foster a welcoming and engaging environment in your streams?
I foster a welcoming and engaging environment in my streams by having an Aloha spirit in my stream. Aloha spirit is a Hawaiian philosophy of the coordination between the mind and the heart within each person. It is based on the word that spells ALOHA: "Akahai", meaning kindness to be expressed with tenderness; "Lōkahi", meaning unity, to be expressed with harmony; "ʻOluʻolu" meaning agreeable, to be expressed with pleasantness; "Haʻahaʻa", meaning humility, to be expressed with modesty; and "Ahonui", meaning patience, to be expressed with perseverance. I keep this in mind everywhere I go and also in every stream. I believe that if I approach and welcome viewers with the Aloha spirit, the stream will naturally be filled with Aloha and positive vibes, and viewers will feel safe in my stream. I aim to make my IRIAM stream feel like we are doing a kanikapila at a cozy home, park, or beach, where everyone is welcome at any time, anywhere.

What are some memorable moments or streams you've had on IRIAM?
One of the most memorable streams I had was my IRIAM debut. Last year, on February 22nd, 2025, at 7:00 PM HST, was my debut time. Many people usually debut with a Q&A stream to introduce themselves to their community. However, to showcase my passion and love, I had my debut set as a singing stream. It is always very fun for me to sing songs that I love to everyone. But, more so, I still remember the very beautiful sight of my viewers, new and old, spamming stars and my song marks in the comments for me. I sang for 2 hours and 24 minutes, and my viewers cheered me with over 294,000 stars and 2,500 song marks. This is my first and most precious memory I made on IRIAM.
Also, I know not all memorable moments are sweet, but this is still a very precious memory I made on IRIAM. Last August, I announced to my viewers that I would like to challenge and enter the Charasong Event for a personal music video. Although my viewers and I worked so hard on the event, the event results were not what we were hoping for. We placed 4th. I will not complain about my loss, but I was upset at myself for not being able to respond to my viewers’ and supporters’ hopes. But I will never forget the kindness that I received from my viewers. Not only do they support me through the event with gifts, comments, and stars, but also the time they spend with me. I streamed for about 14-16 hours each of the last three days, and some viewers stayed with me for most of that time. I feel I built many connections and friendships with my viewers through those times.
What kind of streams can viewers expect from you on the platform?
I believe I am superior in music content streams. I find joy in sharing my passion for music. I enjoy performing for everyone. I love singing and playing instruments like the violin and ukulele. I even enjoy just talking about music as well. On some streams, I like to write my own song when I get ideas and feedback from my viewers to build a one-of-a-kind song. If I want to rest my voice, I do other streaming content like chatting and viewer-involving activities like truth or dare. Since I am a busy pigeon with many people on the island who need me, I sometimes do productive streams, hoping my viewers can also get some of their things off their plates along with me. However, since those streamers are usually not entertaining for many viewers, I try to avoid them as much as possible. The viewers can expect a stream where they can join, as if they are coming to an open kanikapila or picnic, and relax and enjoy their time with others and me.

Looking further ahead, what are your short and long-term goals as a VTuber?
The biggest dream I have as a VTuber is to become a content creator of Aloha, as I explained in the questions earlier. Like our Miss Aloha Hula from our islands, I want to be the Miss Aloha of the whole Vtuber streamer community. My image of Miss Aloha is someone who can brighten the viewer’s day through their presence and entertainment.
As my short-term goal, I want to share my passion with the world and represent the culture I love. I want to inspire people to have pride in who they are. Then, I want to welcome and spread Aloha with everyone who joins my streams every day. Due to the time, I may not be able to address individual viewers, but I plan to stream with the intention of addressing the appreciation of the chat being with me and checking on how they are doing. I also plan to keep my conversation as positive and inspiring as possible to make the viewers feel happy.
I think consistency and patience are the keys to growth towards this dream. I do not expect myself to grow drastically unless the community allows me to, but slow and steady growth is my expectation. As my long-term goal, I would love to perform more in conventions or online concerts to keep striving towards my dreams. One of the big dreams I have as a vtuber streamer is to become the first 3D streamer in the world to dance and perform hula on stage.

Do you have any upcoming projects or events we can look forward to?
I do not have specific upcoming projects or events, since I run things on “da local time.” Which means, I will do events and projects when I feel like it and when the opportunity comes by. As of right now, I can promise my fellow friends on IRIAM that I will continue with my performances and singing. I plan to do more music covers and record this year. Also, if I see other streamers giving me an opportunity to try something, I will try my best to accept those challenges. Lastly, as the oldest sister of Chim3rah!, I plan to keep my contribution to our projects and collaboration streams throughout the year.
