July 23: About our shipment held at US customs

We want to share where things stand before the weekend.

A shipment we sent from Japan for OffKai is currently held at US customs, due to new import rules that took effect this July. It includes the gacha pins, the prize tenugui, the stamp rally sheets, booth decorations, and some of the equipment we planned to use at the booth. We shipped well in advance, but the inspection has lasted far longer than anyone expected, and it is now likely that the shipment will not arrive in time for the event.

Here is what this means.

Happening as planned:

The Jan Ken Tournament, the huge screen, the IRIAM Cruise, the Roaming Ambassadors, the happi (they arrived safely in a separate shipment), and the Ice Cream Social. Some of these will run on backup equipment and setups we are rebuilding locally, but they will all be there for you.

The Pin Gacha:

The gacha most likely cannot run at the venue, at least at the start of the event. To the Streamers whose pins were made through the March Gift Ranking, and to everyone who was hoping to pull their oshi's pin: we are truly sorry. We are working out the best way to get these pins where they belong, and we will share the details as soon as they are set.

The Stamp Rally:

The rally itself will happen, and the happi you earn by collecting stamps is unaffected. In fact, we have prepared plenty of happi, so please come earn yours at the booth! However, the tenugui for completing all the stamps most likely cannot be handed out at the venue. To everyone who was aiming for the full set: we are very sorry. If anything changes, we will let you know.

Decorations and printed materials:

Some parts of the booth may look simpler than we planned. Our team is currently reprinting every printed piece from scratch and rebuilding everything that can be rebuilt locally.

What we are doing:

The entire IRIAM team, in Japan and in the US, is on this from every angle: working with customs up to the last minute, reprinting and re-sourcing locally, and preparing recovery plans for anything that does not make it. Because of this, our replies and updates may be a little slower than usual this week, and we apologize for that.

One more thing. The booth may end up a little more handmade than we pictured. But everything that makes this weekend special, the Streamers, the games, the huge screen, and most of all you, will all be there. We will see you at OffKai, and we will make it count!
