IRIAM Dev Diary (Oct. 2025)

Hi everyone! We push out updates for the IRIAM app about once a month. Until now, though, we usually just post brief notes on X without really diving into the details or the reasons behind the changes.

But with the IRIAM US one-year anniversary right around the corner, and so many new Streamers and Viewers joining us every day, we knew we needed a better way to share what we're working on…! And that’s why, starting with this update, we’re launching the IRIAM Dev Diary!

From now on, whenever we have a major update, we’ll be posting all the details right here. 📝

Alright, let's jump right into what's new in this update!

 Introducing: The Moderator Tools!

With this update, the moderator functionality is coming to IRIAM US! 🔧

Once the app is updated, Streamers can assign moderators.

These moderators can then help out by blocking or muting users on the streamer's behalf.

What happens when a Streamer or Moderator uses Block/Mute?

🚫 Block: The targeted user is immediately removed from the stream and will be unable to rejoin that stream.

🔇 Mute: The muted user's comments will become invisible to everyone else in the stream.

We wanted to implement a moderator function to make IRIAM a safer, more comfortable place for everyone to enjoy. Creating that kind of safe space is one of our biggest missions as a team.

We know it can be a huge burden for Streamers to have to manage blocking and muting all while trying to host an entertaining stream. We believe that by allowing you to share that responsibility with trusted moderators, more Streamers will be able to stream with less stress.

And of course, for Viewers, knowing there are trusted moderators in the room helps everyone relax and enjoy the stream!

There are countless ways Viewers contribute to a stream: livening up the chat with fun and exciting comments, showing empathy for the streamer, sending Gifts to show support, creating and uploading clips, having hilarious banter with other viewers... the list goes on!

Now, becoming a moderator is a new and valuable way to contribute to your favorite streams!

We hope you find it useful!

Moderator Functionality FAQ Q. Is there a limit to how many moderators I can assign? A. Yes, you can assign up to 50 moderators. Streamers can assign and remove moderators from their My Page.

Q. How will I know if I've been made a moderator? A. You'll receive an in-app notification when a streamer assigns you as a Moderator! You'll also see a "Moderator" tag under your name in that stream's Viewer List.

Q. When someone is blocked, what happens to comments they’ve already posted? A. Their earlier comments immediately change to “A comment from a blocked user.”

Q. Can Streamers see who their moderators have blocked or muted? A. Yes, you can! Just go to "Moderator > Moderator Action History" on your My Page to see a log. Streamers can also undo any blocks or mutes from this page.

♥️ Emojis in comments now display correctly!

Due to some technical limitations in our system, certain emojis weren't always showing up correctly in IRIAM. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused! 🙇

To tackle this, we've given our comment system a major overhaul, and now a much wider range of emojis will display just as intended! ✨️✨️

Examples of Emojis We've Fixed

  • Symbol-based emojis e.g., ❤️✌️☀️☂️☁️☃️❤️‍🔥⬅️➡️⚾️⚽️
  • Gendered emojis e.g., 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️👩‍💻👮‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏋️‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧜‍♀️🧛‍♂️
  • Emojis with skin tone options e.g., 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏿‍♂️🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏽‍♂️👶🏻🧑🏾‍🎤 👨🏾‍🚀🫶🏻🙌🏾💪🏽🤲🏻
  • Country flags e.g., 🇯🇵🇺🇸🇬🇧🇩🇪🇫🇷🇰🇷🇧🇷🇮🇳🇮🇹🇿🇦🇳🇵

Please note that a few emojis might still look the same as before, but we're working on future improvements, so please hang tight! 🙏

This fix currently applies to comments only. We'll be monitoring how it goes and will look into expanding it to nicknames and profiles down the line! 💪

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 You can now save up to two PNG streaming models!

Previously, you could only save one character model (illustration) for PNG Streaming, which meant you had to re-upload it every time you wanted to switch.

Starting with this update, you can now save two models!

This means no more hassle of re-uploading.

You can keep your current model saved while easily testing out a new one. It also makes it super simple to "change outfits" and start your stream based on your mood or content for the day!

You can also set a different mini-model (chibi) for each of the two slots, so have fun experimenting!

🔍️ PNG Model Position Adjustment

image

We've adjusted the default position for PNG streaming models to be just a little bit closer to viewers!

It's true in the real world and the virtual world: as physical distance decreases, psychological distance does too, making it easier to build good communication. Because we’re focused on virtual streaming, IRIAM keeps iterating on the little things that make streams feel closer.

And don't worry—Streamers can still show off their full-body models just like before by placing their phone further away or using the zoom-off button.

🤖 Improved Event Monitoring

We have implemented several new internal systems to detect fraudulent activity, especially during our events.

We will continue to strengthen our systems as needed to prevent, detect, and respond to any actions that violate our Terms of Service (like using unauthorized programs or sending Gifts to your own stream) so that everyone can continue to use IRIAM safely.

👾 Fixed Some Bugs on Android

On September 24, 2025, we pushed a fix for the following bugs affecting some Android devices!

  • A bug that caused stream viewing to stop when connecting or disconnecting Bluetooth audio devices
  • A bug that hid the text you were typing in comments or on your profile

It's possible this issue may still pop up depending on your device, but we are continuing to work on improvements!

What do you think of the latest IRIAM update?

If you have any feedback—whether it's "I'd love to see this feature!" or "This fix was amazing!"—please let the IRIAM team know.

In fact, the main feature of this update, the moderator tools, was implemented directly because of requests and feedback from so many of you in the IRIAM US community. Thank you so much to everyone who shared their thoughts! The moderator tools is a feature unique to the US app (it's not even in IRIAM JP), so our whole team is incredibly excited—and just a little nervous!—to see how you all put it to use.

Until the next entry,

— IRIAM Community Team
