IRIAM Dev Diary (May. 2026)

Hi everyone!

This is the IRIAM US Team.

This month's update isn't about a single big new feature so much as a stretch of work tuning the parts of IRIAM you use day to day โ€” making them feel a little better. Alongside that, we've been preparing a couple of bigger things for the months ahead, including a new monthly event launching in June and our return to OffKai Expo this summer. We'll get into those toward the end.

Here's what's in this update!

๐Ÿท๏ธ More Profile Tags!

A while back, in an earlier Dev Diary, we added a big batch of new profile tags to IRIAM US โ€” and opened up a request form for the community to suggest the tags they wanted to see.

We've been reading. This update adds around 80 new tags โ€” and almost all of them are based directly on what came in through that form.

If a tag you suggested made it into this round: thank you ๐Ÿ™Œ

If not yet, the form is still open. We'll keep adding tags in waves, and the next round is planned for a few months from now.

Let us know what would help you find the streamers โ€” or be found by the viewers โ€” who share what you love.

๐Ÿ‘€ A New Expression-Adjustment Screen for Live2D Streams

We've updated the expression-adjustment screen used when setting up your Live2D streams. Picking a part to tweak now zooms in on that part, and adjusting things like eye and mouth movement feels more direct.

What you can actually adjust is the same as before โ€” only the screen itself has changed.

In our June update, Live2D streams will move over to this new expression-adjustment screen for good. Until then, you can switch to it whenever you have a moment to tinker with your model.

๐Ÿ‘ค Terminated Users No Longer Appear in Follow / Follower Lists

Up until now, follow lists and follower lists on IRIAM US could still show accounts that aren't with us anymore โ€” Terminated users (accounts that have left IRIAM, or been removed).

Starting with this update, Terminated users will no longer appear in those lists, and they won't be counted in follow / follower numbers either. As a result, the numbers you see may be a little smaller than before. That's expected โ€” what's shown now reflects the people currently on IRIAM US.

We know that for some of you, those accounts may have carried meaning beyond who's still active here โ€” old friends, people you remember from streams long past. The change isn't meant to take that away. The aim is to keep the lists feeling true to who you're actually connected with right now. (If you have a saved profile link to a Terminated user's profile, that profile remains reachable through the link.)

๐Ÿ“„ A Small Note on Terms of Service

We're making a small update to our Terms of Service, related to how Diamonds are paid out for streamers in certain agency-based arrangements. No other parts of the Terms of Service are being changed. The change applies only to streamers in those arrangements โ€” for everyone else, nothing in your day-to-day use of IRIAM is affected. Streamers in scope will hear directly from their agency with the details.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธย Other Improvements

A few smaller things shipped this round, too:

โœ…ย Your country setting is now visible from Settings. A small pop-up lets you check which country your account is registered to, anytime.

โœ…ย PNG Streaming: sensitivity slider labels fixed.ย The High / Low labels on the sensitivity sliders for eyes and mouth in PNG Streaming were reversed โ€” that's now corrected.

โœ…ย Emoji display fixes (ongoing). We rolled out another batch of fixes for emoji display issues in comments. There's more to do here โ€” this isn't the end of it โ€” but it's a step forward.

That covers what's in this month's update. From here, we'd like to share what we've been preparing for the months ahead ๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐Ÿ† IRIAM Rookie Cup โ€” A First Stretch, Every Month

In an earlier Dev Diary, we talked about wanting to build out more in-app events on IRIAM US โ€” a wider range of events for different kinds of communities, in all sorts of shapes.ย IRIAM Rookie Cup, launching next month, is one of those new events!

image

What is it?

IRIAM Rookie Cup is aย monthlyย 7-day ranking event open to the communities that have just gotten started on IRIAM. Each month's Cup is forย the class of streamers who debuted on IRIAM the previous month.

  • June's Cup is for those who started on IRIAM in May; July's Cup will be for June's debutants โ€” and so on, every month from here on out.

Prizes

โ‘  Top 3 streamers: featured on the home screen banner in the app + a dedicated interview page!

โ‘ก Stream 4 days or more during the event: An exclusive stream background marking your debut month! A small piece of where your IRIAM story started โ€” ready to live on stream with you, for as long as you want it there.

Whether you're going for the top spots, or simply streaming a handful of days for the exclusive background โ€” both are real ways to take part.

There's no wrong way to be in your first Rookie Cup ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ’ฌย A message from the IRIAM US team

A similar Rookie-focused event has been running monthly on IRIAM JP for years. Over time, it's grown into one of the most well-known and well-loved events on the platform โ€” close to a thousand new streamers join each month, and placing in the top spots draws attention from inside the IRIAM community and beyond.

For streamers starting out on IRIAM, declaring a goal for their first Rookie event and preparing for it carefully has come to be something that both the streamers themselves and their earliest fan communities take seriously and hold close.

And whether a community reaches the rank they set their sights on, or comes up just short โ€” the experience of going all in on the Rookie event they took part in, with no map in hand, tends to stay with them as one of the most vivid early memories of their time on IRIAM.

We want to bring an event like this to IRIAM US, too โ€” for the class of May debutants joining us this month, for all the future streamer communities who'll choose IRIAM as the place where their story begins, and for everyone already here making this community what it is. If you've been around for a while โ€” streaming or watching over everyone โ€” those seven days are a perfect time to find someone new and stop by. New streamers tend to remember the people who showed up early; they'll rememberย youย โœจ

The first ever Rookie Cup is happening this June! Here are the dates:

[EDT]ย June 16, 7:00 PM โ€” June 22, 11:59 PMย  [PDT]ย June 16, 4:00 PM โ€” June 22, 8:59 PM

image

Full event details will follow on the in-app event page, so keep an eye out ๐Ÿ‘€. When that goes live, we'll also send an in-app notice directly toย streamers who debuted on IRIAM in Mayย โ€” the ones eligible to take part โ€” so you'll hear from us in good time.

We'll keep listening to what we hear from all of you, and shape this โ€” bit by bit โ€” into something that feels distinctly IRIAM US: an event made for new streamers, in the form that works best here.

๐ŸŽช Coming Soon: Our OffKai Expo Plans

We're heading back to OffKai Expo this year. We'll have more to share about the IRIAM US booth โ€” what we're bringing, what we're cooking up โ€” in a separate announcement coming soon. Keep an eye out ๐Ÿ‘€

That's everything for this month!

A lot of what's in this update is groundwork for what's coming โ€” the first Rookie Cup, our OffKai plans, and more. We'll see you back here next month with more to share.

If something here sparked a thought you want to send our way, you can always reach us through the in-app feedback form.

Until the next entry,

โ€” IRIAM US Team
